With a decade of experience in multifamily lending, investment and company building, Maxwell leads Fulcrum in providing lending solutions to borrowers of all sizes and strategies.
He is obsessed with delivering a premier borrower experience having been in the borrower’s shoes and understood the pains and pitfalls of sourcing, structuring and obtaining real estate loans. His goal is to provide the highest level of service, transparency and expertise which seemed perennially lacking when he was on the other side.
Formerly, Maxwell led the spinout of a technology group from a $10B+ lender in New York City as the Chief Underwriter leading all credit analysis, structuring, underwriting and business development. The resulting company was TapCap, a mortgage technology platform where he solely focused on originating Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA, bridge and CMBS loans throughout the United States.
In addition, Maxwell has held positions as a fund manager, investment banker and principal investor at several real estate firms in New York City managing institutional private equity funds of over $1.4B in equity, underwriting single asset and portfolio acquisitions of over $10B, and structuring complex joint ventures and limited partnerships. He began his career at C-III Capital Partners based in New York City.
Maxwell graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and received a Masters in Real Estate from Columbia University.
